IRS TIN/Name Matching Summary

match rate
Code Category Count % What it means Action
Codes 0, 6, 7, and 8 are all confirmed matches. Codes 2 and 3 require W-9 outreach. Codes 1 and 4 are data quality issues fixable before re-submission.

Result Distribution

TIN Type Distribution

A high proportion of TIN Type 3 (Unknown) increases processing time and reduces diagnostic detail. Use Type 1 (EIN) or Type 2 (SSN) where entity type is known.

Recommended Next Steps

Based on your file's specific result code mix — the fastest path to clean, audit-ready vendor data.

TIN Comply can handle this end-to-end: automated W-9 outreach, IRS TIN re-validation, and full audit trail documentation — all in one platform.

You have the results. Now comes the hard part

Codes 2 and 3 don't fix themselves — each one is a W-9 to chase, a TIN to re-validate, and a paper trail to build before the next CP2100 lands. TIN Comply turns your results file into an automated outreach campaign: vendors get a W-9 request, responses are tracked, updated TINs are re-run against IRS records, and every step is logged for reasonable-cause defense. No spreadsheets, no manual follow-up, no missed deadlines.
